While Mennonite Brethren evangelism was centered locally, certain leaders were nonetheless endowed with special evangelistic gifts and ministered with distinc- tion around the world. Among them: Heinrich S. Voth (1878-1953); Cornelius N. Hiebert (1881-1975); Henry D. Wiebe (1889-1955); George B. Huebert (1887-1970): David Hooge (1891-1950); John A. Toews (1912-1979); Jacob J. Toews (1914-). George B. Huebert was one of five evangelists to speak at the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago. Cornelius N. Hiebert's ministry in Europe and South America in the post- World War Il-era produced good results. John A. Toews and J.J. Toews ministered widely in Europe and South America. Henry D. Wiebe is remembered by some as the John the Baptist of the North American Mennonite Brethren preaching repen- tance, confession of sin and renewal. 1 1 .
