This periodical, published at various intervals in its twenty-year history, has provided valuable suggestions and stimulating program materials for youth work on the local church level. In 1962 H. H. Dueck was appointed as editor of The Youth Worker, after the Wiebes resigned. The Youth Committee through the years has sponsored various projects for financial support by youth groups throughout Canada. The projections for 1962-63 provide an insight into the nature and scope of this phase of youth work. Youth workers' conferences have been sponsored from time to time by this committee. Understandably, much of the youth work has been carried on by provincial youth committees. Manitoba took an early lead in this area by publishing its own youth paper and organizing annual youth rallies. These two-day rallies have emphasized missions, Christian service in the community, and a life of discipleship. In Saskatchewan, youth work has developed along a somewhat different pattern. In this province the Bible schools (located at Herbert, Dalmeny, and Hepburn) have provided leadership by sponsoring youth rallies and missionary conferences. The Western Children's Mission (later called the M.B. Mission of Saskatchewan) has provided service outlets in their extensive program of Daily Vacation Bible schools, camp work, and evangelism.''" In Alberta organized youth work began in the Coaldale M.B. Church as early as 1928. Sunday evening services were often devoted to the interests of young people. The provincial youth committee followed the same pattern as in the other provinces, sponsoring annual youth as well as youth workers' conferences. In the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, with the heaviest TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE 235 concentration of Mennonite Brethren young people in Canada, organized youth work was slow in beginning but once started, it moved ahead rapidly. In the last two decades the Youth Committee of the province has sponsored youth rallies, youth workers' conferences, the organization of the camp society, and various mission projects. In recent years Columbia Bible Institute (formerly Mennonite Brethren Bible Institute) at Clearbrook has served as a center for clinics and workshops in leadership training, both for Christian education (Sunday school) and youth work.
