nglish district school. Our parents settled on a farm one mile west of the home place. Father farmed and also taught various schools, among them being the Greenfeld, Emmenthal and Steinbach schools. Since he was of poor health, he had to give up teaching which was a great sacrifice for him because of his keen interest in teaching. Our home was a blessed one. Our father and mother were very strict and sought to raise their children in the fear of the Lord. Father taught Sundgy school classes on Sunday afternoon in the home district school. Young people often gathered in the home for song practice. I was about eleven years of age when father died, but the impressions left in those early years will always stay with me. Our father died in 1898. In October of the year 1908 our mother was married to John Bal?er. In 1913 our parents, John Balters, and Abraham Reimers had the rare privilege to visit the Aaron Reimer family who were still living in Russia. Since this visit preceded World War I they saw the old country before it was ruined by war, revolution and famine. Generations come and generations go. May our names, the names of all our families, be recorded in heaven in the Book of Life. Henry J. Reimer , ' Reunions Reunions come, reunions go. All the dangers round about. All its hardships and its griefs, And the many strange beliefs Still has many joys to give. If only a Christian life we live,. Yes, do the things we know are right Though we may win or lose the fight. Take the loss in gold or fame Not in self-respect or shame. Be a friend to child and man Help and give when°ere we can. Some day, but when, I cannot tell We here on earth no more shall dwell No more reunions here shall be In Heaven each other we will see So let our conscience be our guide And in religion take our pride.
