AARON REIMER GENEALOGY 1775-1953, Mrs. Edna Nachtigal Buhler

39 at the age of 52. Grandmother died in 1850 at the age of 62 years. Where they lived after grandfather’s death is unknown to me. One could relate more about the relatives of grandfather Warkentin but let this suffice for the present. Grandparents on father’s side are: Grandfather Aaron Reimer, born November 14, 1775. Grandmother Reimer, nee Grave, born in 1774 also in Prussia although I do not know the village. In the year 1833 grandmother Reimer died at the age of 58 years. (In 1849 grandfather Reimer died at the age of 73.) He had settled in Furst enwerder . After grandmother’s death my parents Aaron Reimers took over grandfather’s farm. Father Aaron Reimer was born January 17, 1814. Mother, nee Anna Warkentin, was born December 31, 1818. To this union 13 children were born of whom 4 died in childhood. God blessed their work and their farm prospered. Father Aaron Reimer died of typhoid fever in the fall of 1874. Mother continued to manage the farm till 1876. Then she sold everything. Since a law requiring military service of the Mennonites was passed in Russia in 1873, many decided to leave Russia and emigrate to America. During the years of 1874 and 1875 many left for America, and in 1876 our mother with her 3 sons also decided to leave for America. Sister Katherina with her husband, John Lowen, whom she had married the previous winter, also joined them. Daughter Elizabeth, married to Jacob Schmidt, had left in 1875. This was a difficult decision for mother to execute because 5 children left for America, while 4 remained in Russia was a difficult period for mother, first because she had to bid farewell to the children remaining in Russia, and secondly because of the hardships she had t endure in the early years in this new country. She bore this br*ve^ °r for which we should be deeply grateful. Mother died on January 2, 1891, at the age of 72. May she rest in peace. . , Now follows a short report of her children and their families. Anna who married Martin Janzen, lived in Alexanderwohl , then moved to Turkestan in the early 80's, where she died in 1884. The children, as far as I know, are all in Turkestan except Elizabeth who married Heinrich Koop and one grandson of Martin Janzen, Cornelius A. Janzen, who lives in British Columbia, Canada. After her husband's death she married Jacob Pauls of Corn, Oklahoma. Aaron Reimer, married to Katharina Enns , remained in Russia. He passed away during the war and his wife died some years later.
